I will never recommend anyone to eat at Masala - Spice of India. We ate at various Indian places in San Diego but this one was worst experience ever!!!.
Masala Spice of India,  Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego - Worst Dinning Experience Ever!!

We often love cooking Indian food at home. Yesterday night, we were not in mood to eat at home, so decided to find some good Indian Restaurant in San Diego Downtown.  Last time we were in Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego, we saw this very authentic looking  restaurant - Masala Spice Of India, liked the menu too. So, we decided to try their food today. But after dinning, we regret our choice and money we spent.

Disappointing, Frozen & Confused Appetizers - In appetizers, I ordered "Desi Chaat" and my husband ordered - Samosa. Being Indian, I hoped Indian(desi) Chaat will be Indian Chaat. While waiting for appetizers, we were checking main course menu when I happen to notice that their so called "Desi Chaat" is nothing but another Samosa dish with some yogurt and springs greens on the top. So we both practically had same Samosa filled plates with two different names. Indian Chaat is NO way close to what they are serving and they just making fool of people dinning in their restaurant with  mis-naming Indian dishes and calling their restaurant "Spice of India". On top of that, Samosas were re-heated frozen product, bland, yogurt was extra tart and I have never seen Spring Green Mix served with Indian Chaat ever!!

Main Course, Another Disappointment - Already feeling sick with their appetizer, our main course arrived on time. My husband ordered Spicy Chicken Curry and I ordered Malai Kofta Curry. We eat pretty spicy food but I found my husband was swallowing water after each bite of chicken. Looks like they forget to relate that it can be spicy but should still be human eatable. And totally opposite. my Kofta Curry(ordered mild) had no seasoning whats-so-ever. I had to add salt and pepper to make it eatable.

And be very cautiousof the table lamps placed on every table. Those were very authentic looking small metal cages with a wax candle inside and metal was so very hot that if happen to touch it while grabbing food, you will burn yourself for sure.

By night, we both were sick. Food sat in our stomach for long time, burning and bloating like hell. Even a can of soda not helped. Very bad experience.

I will never recommend anyone to eat at Masala - Spice of India. We ate at various Indian places in San Diego but this one was worst experience ever!!!.

P.S: If you wanna try good India Chaat, try it at "Surati Farsan, Black Mountain Road, San Diego". Their Samosas are pretty good too. Good and Economical.

If you wanna try a very good Indian Samosa, you can also try it at "Sitar, Cuisine of India, Sorrento Valley".
