First time I had mint yogurt chutney with Paneer Tikka in an Indian buffet and I fell in love with this chutney.

You will not believe if I tell you that I had a small bowl full of this chutney with dessert course as palate cleanser. I told my husband I am going to give it a try at home and will see how close I can get to real recipe; whole time were tasting and guessing what else it has other than mint and yogurt.

Well, I started in very small batch at home and added minimal ingredients to replicate the taste and you have it – “the perfect chutney” the very first time. And you will say "how is that possible?".

It is possible because this chutney is just about fresh mint, yogurt and extra kick comes from lemon juice. Some of you might think yogurt is already sour so why add lemon juice? For that you have to give it a try however if yogurt is day old and feel little sour to you, tone it down with ½ tsp honey before you add lemon juice.

Directions

  • Step for Recipe - Mint Yogurt Dipping Sauce 1. In a bowl, add yogurt ( well beaten), mint paste, salt, lemon juice and mix well. Heat oil in a small pan, add mustard seeds when oil is hot. Cover the pan with lid and let the seeds sputter. Switch of the heat. Add this blackened mustard seeds into the yogurt mint mixture and mix well. Mint yogurt chutney is ready. This goes perfect with grilled or fried spicy chicken for dipping or with vegetarian fritters. I even love to eat Mint yogurt chutney with plain rice.
