This versatile bread is very easy to make and perfect for a first time bread maker. You can serve this bread at any time of the day, for breakfast with some butter or yogurt (yogurt raita) or even for dinner with some spicy curry on the side.

Spiced Daikon Radish and Onion Flat Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Daikon - White Radish (Grated)
  • 2 Cup Wheat Flour
  • 3 tbsp Canola Oil (For dough and frying)
  • 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Cup Red Onion (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp Red Pepper Powder
  • 2 tbsp Cilantro (chopped)
  • 1/4 Cup Green Onion (chopped)

Directions

  • 1. Grate Daikon, add 1/4 tsp salt. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Now, squeeze out maximum water from it. Add it to wheat flour with 1 tbsp oil and all ingredients mentioned in the list.
  • 2. Knead flour by mixing in little water at a time. If using dough machine, use dough hook and need at Speed 2 while adding water slowly to make a dough ball. Then continue needing for 2-3 minutes adding 1-2 tbsp water.
    Additional Notes:
    Dough should neither be sticky nor firm.
  • 3. Make round balls of dough (of size that easily fit in your palm). Using roller stick, roll ball into a round flat circle.
    Additional Notes:
    Use dry wheat flour to stop sticking of dough to Roller Stick Or your hands
  • 4. Heat a iron griddle Or Pan , put one flattened Parantha on griddle and let it cook for 1-2 minute. Turn the other side and leave for another 1-2 minutes. Apply some oil and turn again. Let the Parantha crisp a bit in oil.
  • 5. Serve with fresh butter or Mango Pickle Or Dahi
