A chocolate truffle is a type of chocolate confectionery, traditionally made with a chocolate ganache coated in cocoa powder. These bite-sized round treats are very easy to make and loved by everyone. Generally recipe calls for dark chocolate but you can use semi dark or sweet chocolate based on your taste preferences. These chocolate candies will be soon gone after served to a chocolate loving crowed. Even though the center of truffle is traditionally ganache, truffles can be made with a variety of fillings ranging from nuts to fruits.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Chocolate Chips (Dark)
  • 1/4 Cup Heavy Cream
  • Cocoa Powder (for coating)

Directions

  • 1. Heat water in a double boiler to melt chocolate.
  • 2. Add chocolate chips and cream in a heat resistant bowl and warm it on a double boiler ( heating water very gently)
    Additional Notes:
    You can also warm cream and chocolate in microwave. Microwave on low power for 15 secconds at a time till desired consistency achieved.
  • 3. Keep stirring the mixture till chocolate is well combined with cream. Remove from heat. Let it cool to room temprature and then refrigerate till chocolate sets (approx. 2-3 hrs).
  • 4. Use a melon ball to scoop truffles from chilled chocolate mixture and roll it very gently in dry cocoa powder and enjoy.
    Additional Notes:
    To store it for later use, keep it in air tight container.
