Melon

Commonly referred as Melon or Muskmelon is a species of melon that has been developed into many cultivated varieties. These include smooth skinned varieties such as honeydew, crenshaw and casaba, and different netted cultivars (cantaloupe, Persian melon and Santa Claus or Christmas melon).

Melon fruits are high in water content. Most of melons are consumed when fresh, in certain cases melons are also dried or their seeds are used to extract melon oil. 

There are various varieties of melon grown and eaten throughout the world. Most common are watermelon, honeydew melon, galia melon, cantaloupe (shown in picture) and even bitter melon which is a bitter tasting melon used often in Asian/Indian cuisine.
