Mango Chutney and Cream Cheese Pin Wheels

View Recipe
These Pin Wheels vanished from my cookie cooling rack in no time. I baked’em during lunch hour and my husband was home and in no more than 20 minutes, wheels from one of the cooling rack disappeared like hot cakes.

Mango Chutney I used for this recipe was homemade, with few black peppercorns. You bite into these Mango Chutney and Cream Cheese Pillows, first you get a perfect sweet and tangy bite with buttery and flaky puff pastry and then you get surprise of black peppercorn, truly addictive. We finished one batch comparing, “did you get black pepper? I got black pepper in this one. Let me try one more….. and on and on”.

When I don’t make mango chutney at home, I usually prefer – Stonewell Kitchen Mango Chutney. You can add few slight crushed black peppercorns and bake for Halloween party – call it a spicy trick hidden in sweet treats. Enjoy!!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup Mango (Mango Chutney)
  • 1/2 Cup Cream Cheese
  • 1 Puff Pastry (1 packet containing two sheets - Thaw puff pastry sheet at room temperature for 40 minutes before using.)
  • 1 Egg(s) (for egg wash (Egg wash gives a golden color, however, I have not used egg wash for these))

Directions

  • 1. Preheat oven at 400 F. Spread one of two sheets (1 puff pastry usually has 2 square pastry sheets) on flour dusted board. Spread with 1/4 cup cream cheese and 1/4 cup mango chutney.
  • 2. Roll pastry sheet starting from one end to a long log. Repeat the step 1 and step 2 for second sheet.
  • 3. Use a sharp knife to slice 1/2 inch wheels from log and place them on a parchment lined baking sheet with cut side down. Brush with egg wash (1 egg mixed with 1 tbsp water) - egg wash is optional, i have not used egg wash in my recipe but I recommend it for more golden color.
  • 4. Bake for 15-17 minutes till tops are golden brown. Serve hot or at room temperature.
