This weekend, I'm giving you a delicious reason to dig your waffle iron out of the cupboard, with my eggless, crispy, golden Waffles slathered in Cinnamon Sugar!

Oh - and guess what? These waffles will be the best tasting street fair churros you ever had!!!

Feeling nostalgic? Me too!!!

Street Fair is THE place where I first tasted Churro and I fell in love with it, at first bite!

Oh boy! I must tell you, when I ate churro first time, I did not realize a 1/2 foot long fried piece of dough will disappear, from my cinnamon-sugar slathered paper napkin, in seconds! On top of that, I'll be still hungry for one more!! Seriously, I finished churro, and were eagerly looking for NEXT Churro shop. Can you believe this?

I clearly remember, we were newbies to street fair that day and Vishal was carrying very less paper money. He could see in my eyes, the desire of ONE more churro that he specially took some money from ATM and bought me one more.

We don't get to visit a street fair that often... So, I came home and tried to find a place where I can get churro. I was overjoyed to know that even Costco sells churro in their mini cafeteria. How didn't I notice it before?!!

I'm sure you thinking, why a savoury-food-addict girl is aaaaa-all for sweet-cravings today?! Well, if you have tasted churro, you know, why! If not, I have to tell you that even after being coated in cinnamon sugar, churros are not very sweet. These have just enough amount of salt to make'em sweet and savory...... Perfect for a not-so-crazy-for-sweets person, like me.

Today, my love for churro made it's way to Waffle Iron!!

Cinnamon Sugar Waffles for Breakfast |

Yes, my friends! Presenting to you, Crispy Cinnamon Sugar Waffles Breakfast, made with Classic Churro Dough! Drum-rolls!!!! :) I think, it is safe to call'em "Chaffles" lol! This is one of my THE best fusion recipe ever! Spanish Churro meets Dutch-European Classic Waffles and taste so so good! Who knew?!

Ah... these waffles are like eating you favorite churros, which are not fried (good thing, right?), for breakfast!

You know, what make'em even more special? You can eat'em for breakfast but just like your favorite street churros!! Just hold in hand with a paper napkin....... as if you are in a street fair.... moving shop to shop.... and munching crispy waffle..... which is soft inside, and slathered in cinnamon sugar..... not too sweet, not too salty...... and has NO fried-dough calories in it!

Just the right mix of 5 simple ingredients, doing magic together!

Oh yeah! Only 5 base ingredients: your good old friend AP flour, butter, sugar, cinnamon, and salt!

Toppings!? I like'em as-is, but you can add as many as you want! These churro waffles are ready to with-stand any Waffle Toppings you want to use!

A few thoughts on:

Why should you make Churro Waffles, for breakfast, tomorrow:

1. Quick and Easy Breakfast: Churro waffles will be ready, from scratch, in just 20 minutes!!
2. Healthier: These waffles are eggless, good for all my friends who can't eat eggs. And if you are churro fan, then these churros are not fried!! win-win!
3. 5-Ingredient Breakfast: You just need just 5 base ingredients to make a batch of churro waffles! Toppings are optional!
4. And taste? I'm telling you, you will come back to 'thank me' for introducing you to this delicious-ness! (at your service, no thanks necessary friends :) )
5. Last but not the least, homemade is the BEST!

Just 20 minutes for a Crispy Churro Waffles Breakfast for 2 |

My drooling love for Churros triggered just when I cut opened one of the waffle... in attempt to take few more clicks.

You know, how brain works?! it takes time for signals to reach from brain to your body parts. I saw a clear example of that when my mouth started working (closer to brain, of course) before I could get away from the plate of churro waffles.

In no time, I devoured almost one and a half of it and kept thinking........ I'm supposed to take few clicks, but..... fragrance of cinnamon sugar and that aroma of cooked dough slathered in cinnamon.... In other words, street-fair "churro" nostalgia.... just forced me to eat it all.

Enjoy and have a great weekend my friends! x

Churro Dough for Waffles
Toppings (optional)
Smart Swap: Use part whole wheat and part AP flour, to add some whole wheat goodness to your breakfast!

  • Step for Recipe - Cinnamon Sugar Churro Waffles 1. Set the waffle iron to preheat. In a heavy bottom sauce pan, add water, sugar, salt, and butter and heat, stirring once or twice, until butter has melted and sugar has dissolved. (just 1-2 minutes) Additional Notes: Don't boil the water. Once butter has melted, just stir the water to dissolve sugar in warm water.
Step for Recipe - Cinnamon Sugar Churro Waffles 2. Remove pan from heat. Add all of the all purpose flour. (Keep a whisk or spatula ready to combine the dough) Additional Notes: I often combine the flour into water with whisk, so as to avoid lumps, and then fold dough using spatula while cooking.
  • Step for Recipe - Cinnamon Sugar Churro Waffles 3. Return the pan to medium heat and cook the dough for 2 minutes or until dough is shiny and leaves a film of flour on the sides of pan.
Step for Recipe - Cinnamon Sugar Churro Waffles 4. Remove the dough from pan and divide into two equal portions. Keep one covered, and divde the other into yet another two parts. Additional Notes: If you waffle iron can cook 4 waffles at-a-time, then you can use all the dough.
  • Step for Recipe - Cinnamon Sugar Churro Waffles 5. Spray waffle iron with cooking spray, then place two portions of dough onto waffle iron and close the lid. Cook for 5-6 minutes or until waffles iron shows the green light of completion. (Keep an eye after 4 minutes, don't let waffles burn).
Step for Recipe - Cinnamon Sugar Churro Waffles 6. Transfer the hot waffles into a plate with cinnamon and sugar and coat generously. Repeat steps 5 and 6 to cook remaining waffles.
  • Step for Recipe - Cinnamon Sugar Churro Waffles 7. Serve waffles hot with sliced strawberries (optional) and dollop of sweet whipped cream. Enjoy!

  2. Can’t wait to make this
  3. Ingredients are simple and results look absolutely great.. Must try right away. Thanks for recipe.
  4. These are amazing! I was expecting a traditional waffle recipe with cinnamon sugar, not legit churro dough. Yum! I love the crunchy outside and soft chewy middle. We loved them!
    Thanks for the feedback
  5. I’m late to this party, but made these today for my kids and their friends following a sleepover. They all raved about them (and some of the friends are extremely picky eaters)! I also loved them… the chewy, sort of crisp outside and the gooey inside.., so good! Thank you for this imaginative and easy take on waffles!
  6. Can't wait for all your recipes
  7. Can it be preheated?
I never reheated these. Usually we eat it right after it is out of waffle iron. That said, reheating for 30 seconds at a time in microwave should be fine.
  8. I made this for my grandchildren when they came over last Sunday. We always try out new recipes and this was a big hit!!! unfortunately they have not spoken to me since because of my gambling problem as their parents did not want their kids to be influenced and are also angry at me for losing all of the money they would have received in my will. However I will always remember the delicious waffles we ate the last time I saw my beautiful grandchildren. Which was last Sunday. thx Savita! 10/10
  9. My grandchildren love churros, and I am looking forward to try your recipe on Saturday. Thank you. I am not worried about eggs or fried foods, but your churros look good, and waffles are a favorite here.
  10. It look delicious... Definitely by on a try it...
  11. We were so excited to make these but like others said my dough was gooey inside. I cooked the dough like it said and it turned out just like yours but then i cooked them in the waffle iron they didn't turn out. I cant adjust the temperature on my waffle iron, is that the problem? I even tried to thin them out. Thanks in advance.
Hi Katie, I have no temperature settings on my waffle iron. It is very basic iron. This batter is egg-less and dough is partially pre-cooked when making batter. These waffles won't be dry like regular wheat-egg-soda waffles but are supposed to be moist inside. I'm planning to share a video of this recipe soon. I'm hoping that will show the texture and clear the doubts. Keep an eye. Thanks for your feedback.
  12. Huge kiss on cheek and hug to Savita! Family loves it, quick easy and no fuss.
Angel, I'm glad your family enjoyed churro waffles.
  13. Looks great, can i mass produce this recipe ? Thanks
Hi Saifaddin, I often double this recipe when making waffles for larger group.. So, I don't see a reason why it can't be mass produced. However, I have never tried more than double. Please note cooking time of churro dough - flour and butter, increases and needs more spacious consistent heat when cooked in larger batch. I hope it helps.
  14. I made these this morning. This batter was really thick, more like a choux. I pasted the dough onto the waffle griddle, it worked. Added cinnamon sugar while still warm and omg they are amazing! Tastes just like churros and no deep frying! You are a genius! Added whip and strawberries and BAM!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing your feedback. :)
  15. This was perfect. The only thing I did differently was only add 3.5 TBS of sugar to the topping. This was the perfect recipe to christen my new waffle maker!
April, thanks! I'm glad your enjoyed waffles. I actually went ahead and checked your post and really your waffles pictures and mine are twinning :) loved it!
  16. Have been looking over several waffle iron churro recipes tonight to make tomorrow morning and this one looks great. Like not having to deal with eggs like the other recipes I've seen. Plan to try this out in the morning brushed with butter at the end then coat in cinn & sugar. Will report back!
Alex, I'm glad you like this recipe and planning to try it. I always make churro eggless and they taste super delicious. I hope you too like'em when you try. Happy cooking!
  17. Can i make the batter a night before?
Jennifer, you can make dough a night before. Refrigrated chuuro dough will harden due to buttter. I would bring it to room temp before making waffles. I hope it helps.
  18. Why dont you take this to the market! ill be one of the first ones buying them. I dont have a waffle iron...or not good with fllowing directions to make a recipe come to life! lol
Olivia, thanks for your nice words. I'm glad you like Churro Waffles so much! I really wish I can take it to market :) I hope you get a Waffle Iron and make these sometime. Recipe instructions are not at all to follow. Let me know if you need any additional help.
