Ingredients

  • 4-6 White Bread (Slices)
  • 1 Cup Chickpea Flour
  • 2 Potatoes (boiled and mashed)
  • 1/4 tsp Thyme
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic (mashed or paste)
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 tbsp Cilantro (chopped)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/2 Cup Red Onion (chopped)
  • 1/4 tsp Red Pepper Powder

Directions

  • 1. Boil and mash potatoes. Add 1/2 tsp salt, red pepper powder, chopped onion and cilantro. Mix well and set aside. In an another bowl, take chickpea flour, add 1/2 tsp salt, black pepper, cumin seeds, thyme and garlic. Now add approx. 1/2 cup water to make batter. It should be thick enough to coat a finger lightly.
  • 2. Cut bread slices diagonally. Spread 2 tbsp of bread mixture on one side of each bread triangle.
  • 3. Press the second half of bread triangle on top. If bread does not stick, wet your hand in little water before pressing two bread pieces together.
  • 4. Heat oil in a frying pan. When oil is hot, dip stuffed triangle in chickpea batter one or two at a time and deep fry till crispy golden from all sides (5-6 minutes). Serve hot with hot tea or coffee.
    Additional Notes:
Never over crowd frying pan with too many pakoras at the same time. This will drop oil temperature and pakoras will turn out soggy and greasy.
