Potato Stuffed Bread Pakora is a famous North Indian tea time snack. Spicy Potato stuffing and crispy fried chickpea crust leads to crunchy outside and yummy delicious inside stuffing. It feels like heaven to sit with family on rainy day evening and enjoy hot bread Pakora with Hot Tea. Pakoras are served piping hot, direct from the fryer into plates. You can make two types pakoras using same chickpea batter. Stuffed Bread Pakora and Plain Bread Pakoras - without stuffing. In India, stuffed bread pakora has filling of mashed potatoes, though you can also stuff pakoras with grated paneer(Indian Cheese).

  • Step for Recipe - Potato Stuffed Bread Pakora 1. Boil and mash potatoes. Add 1/2 tsp salt, red pepper powder, chopped onion and cilantro. Mix well and set aside. In an another bowl, take chickpea flour, add 1/2 tsp salt, black pepper, cumin seeds, thyme and garlic. Now add approx. 1/2 cup water to make batter. It should be thick enough to coat a finger lightly.
    Step for Recipe - Potato Stuffed Bread Pakora 2. Cut bread slices diagonally. Spread 2 tbsp of bread mixture on one side of each bread triangle.
  • Step for Recipe - Potato Stuffed Bread Pakora 3. Press the second half of bread triangle on top. If bread does not stick, wet your hand in little water before pressing two bread pieces together.
    Step for Recipe - Potato Stuffed Bread Pakora 4. Heat oil in a frying pan. When oil is hot, dip stuffed triangle in chickpea batter one or two at a time and deep fry till crispy golden from all sides (5-6 minutes). Serve hot with hot tea or coffee. Additional Notes: Never over crowd frying pan with too many pakoras at the same time. This will drop oil temperature and pakoras will turn out soggy and greasy.
